DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY – 1/20/20 – NO SCHOOL

There will be no school on Monday, January 20 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

APHS GRADE 8 SCHEDULING PRESENTATIONS & ELECTIVE FAIR – 1/21/20

The Averill Park High School counselors and principals will be visiting Algonquin on Tuesday, January 21 during PE/Music/Art/College and Career Pathways classes for team presentations on the high school’s scheduling process.

Students also will visit a high school elective fair during lunches on Tuesday, January 21 to learn more about exciting coursework opportunities available to ninth grade students.

TECH VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATIONS

Grade 8 Families: Applications for Tech Valley High School are available in the Counseling Center. All interested families must attend one of Tech Valley’s parent-student information sessions. Please have your child pick up a packet in the Counseling Center.

SPREADING WILL POWER BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL GAME – 1/31/20 – 7pm

Please join AP Student Government and Boys Basketball team “Spreading Will Power” on Friday, January 31 during the day and wrapping up with the boys game that evening. Our goal is to turn APCSD a sea of Will Power to spread awareness about The Brave Will Foundation.

ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Are you interested in gaining information on technology, social media, substance abuse, school and social stressors? Active Parenting of Teens workshop is for parents of students in grades 6-9, which provides useful tools to navigate the adolescent years. The workshop takes place on Tuesdays from January 28 to February 25 from 6:30-8:00pm at Algonquin. Game-A-Thon!
The Library is holding a Game-A-Thon fundraiser on Thursday, January 16 from 2:30-4:30 P.M. in the cafeteria. Students can play a variety of board games, (Jenga, Dominion, Forbidden Island, Sorry, Sponge Bob Square Pants Uno, Stratego, charades, Headbanz, etc.) or chess. They can also choose to play non-violent games on their phones. Tickets cost $7 and will be on sale during lunches on Tues., 1/14, Wed. 1/15 and Thurs. 1/16. There is a girl’s home basketball game at 4:15. Students can come to the fundraiser, stay for the game and be picked up at 5:30 P.M. We appreciate your support of the library!

Coding Club
Another session of the Coding Club will meet after school on Wednesday, January 22! Your child will need to sign up in the library. They will take the late bus home or need a ride. Different coding games, gadgets and websites will be provided. The sign-up sheet is available now in the library if students would like to join us.
