  7. Graduation Rate Rises to...

Graduation rates at Averill Park High School continue to rise to new heights.

The New York State Education Department released its high school graduation rates for the 2018-19 school year and Averill Park saw an increase from the previous year, setting a new district record in the process.

“This is an accomplishment of the entire school community. Our faculty, staff and students put in an immense amount of work throughout the year and these statistics show the fruits of their labor,” Averill Park CSD Superintendent Dr. James Franchini said. “We continue to produce an environment where we are meeting the needs of and providing opportunities for every student every day.”

With an enrollment of 234 in the senior class, 95 percent of the students who began high school in 2015 graduated – 56 percent with an Advanced Regents degree. There was a reported dropout percentage of 3 percent.

Averill Park’s percentage of students graduating with an Advanced Regents degree is ranked first among all Rensselaer County school districts. Overall, Averill Park is well above the statewide graduation rate of 83 percent.

The numbers trend upward from the 2017-18 school year where a class size of 241 students had a graduation rate of 93 percent. Of that group, 53 percent graduated with an Advanced Regents degree and the district had a dropout percentage of 6 percent.
