Rhonda Smith moved to Averill Park when she was 18 years old and never left. After driving a bus for Averill Park CSD for nearly 28 years, Mrs. Smith is packing up and retiring with her last day being today (Friday, Feb. 28)!
Mrs. Smith initially became a bus driver when she began looking for work that would fit in with her children’s schedules.
“I have five kids and the timing worked out well for us,” she said. “The family feeling of the transportation department made me stay for all these years.”
While Mrs. Smith will miss her co-workers and the students that she gets to know, she is excited to travel and spend more time looking after her grandchildren.
