Averill Park High School is located in the eastern part of the Capital District, just 10 miles from Albany, New York. With a population of approximately 870 students and over 100 faculty and staff members, we are proud to be able to offer our students the benefits of a smaller school environment while still providing unique instructional practices and programs that are traditionally only found in larger schools. The opportunity for students to attain individualized growth and success is limitless!

 

 Our proximity to nearly 20 colleges and universities allow our students to take advantage of a multitude of different Advanced Placement and/or “College in the High School” courses in Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Foreign Languages, Art, Music and Technology. Community partnerships throughout the area support innovative programs such as our Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering Sequence, our state-of-the-art automotive and construction technology programs as well as Career Exploration Internship. Here at Averill Park High School we help students find their passions. Our faculty and staff use the following four critical questions to identify building goals and create action steps. These questions are:
What do students need to know and be able to do?
How will we know if they learned it?
How will we respond if they don’t learn it?
How will we extend the learning for those who know it?
The building goals and action steps are used to ensure that we meet the needs of every student every day.
