(April 24, 2013) Last evening, the Averill Park Central School District Board of Education made some temporary administrative changes at Algonquin Middle School and Averill Park High School due to the illness of Cheryl Clark, assistant principal at the high school.

Beginning May 1, John Bishop, assistant principal at the middle school (and athletic director), will move to the high school to assist Colleen Gomes as assistant principal. Kate Dorgan was named as acting assistant principal at Algonquin to assist Rob Messia. Miss Dorgan's data coach responsibilities will be transferred to Kristin Card during this time.

Again, these changes are temporary, until Ms. Clark is well enough to resume her full-time duties as assistant principal at Averill Park High School. However, they will continue until approximately the end of the first marking period of the 2013-2014 school year.

"Please offer a warm welcome to John and Kate as they assume their new duties, and of course keep Cheryl in your thoughts as we make these changes," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Hoffman. "Our goal is to keep the programs in both schools strong as we face the end of the current school year and begin working toward the opening of a new school year."
